How To Be A Student Athlete

“All work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy”, the famous saying goes. Sports can be great to rejuvenate your body and mind. It can fill you up with zest. These days, most of the schools and colleges provide a sports-quota, where you can be admitted to the institution based on your achievements in sports. Some institutions also allow highly skilled players to represent the institution in leagues and tournaments. Sports have always been a great addition to resumes and are not something you should sacrifice for your academic records. Instead, learn to balance it!

*Here are some tips on how to become a student-athlete for your progress in career developments.*

*1. Research*
The most tedious step of the process and the riskiest one. Identifying your interests in the field of sports apart, but choosing the right sports academy is a huge leap. Not all academies are well-versed in imparting the training you need to reach great heights. So the research part must be done well. This will give yourself more self-confidence to pursue further training sessions.

*2. Balancing your Time*
After having done the research part, and joining an academy, the very next important thing to be done is to allocate fixed and dedicated time your training sessions. This should not hinder your study or institutional hours. Apart from this, weekends must include practice sessions, either by the academy or on your own. Consistent practice always pays-off, and constant efforts to shed sweat for your aim helps you in a great deal.

*3. Mentor*
Mentoring is an essential aspect while undergoing restless training. Apart from having self-confidence, a mentor is the person who can streamline your thoughts to avoid you from slipping into over-confidence. This person can be anyone – your parents, your siblings, your coach, or a close buddy. This person/These people, irrespective of being your personal mentor or not, always stick with you and show you the right path.

*4. Tournaments*
Just coaching will not be sufficient. Taking part in many external tournaments and winning them is essential. The growth while aiming for higher victories always pays off. Make amendments and have constant training sessions to get into district level, state level and national level tournaments. The earlier you start, the higher you reach. It’s a competitive world out there. So keep marching forward to attend tournaments and never look back at the failures and downfalls.

*5. Determination*
All of these paths can be crossed only with the deep determination to become an athlete. Constant practice, improvements, encouragements, and aim come only with determination. A quote by Charles Simmons says, “Never go backward; Attempt, and do it with all your might, Determination is power”. Following this would make miraculous growth in your path.
